Haiti collection raises £1,000

A STREET collection in Culcheth raised more than £1,000 for the Hope for Haiti project in two days.

Members of the Lions went out and about to collect the cash outside Sainsbury’s in the CPS centre.

And members of the clubs in Warrington, Birchwood and Culcheth have all sent thousands of pounds to help with the relief work in Port au Prince. Lions from the Dominican Republic are bringing in much needed supplies from the island that they share with Haiti.

President Barry Collins, of Birchwood Lions, said: “We have the advantage of knowing that every single penny raised reaches the point of need speedily and that the relief workers on the ground can start their work out there without any delay.”
